I’m really excited to announce that Max (Maxime Beaupied) is the winner of the draw this in your style challenge I held on Instagram a few weeks ago. This portrait of Ruthie was so unique and ‘out of the box’ , and beautifully drawn with detail while still preserving Ruthie’s style.

I thought it would be fun to do my first interview ever with another artist! I know how hard it can be for artists to be seen and get noticed, and to be appreciated for what they do. I’m planning on doing a lot more interviews, art features, challenges, and more to help put artists in the spotlight!

I also want to thank everyone again who has joined the challenge and created such beautiful artpieces inspired by Ruthie. You’re truly all amazing artists!

Now on to the interview with Max!

  1. Who is your biggest influence?

    • Oh, there are so much of them. Famous ones: Turner, E. - Laboureur......   Less famous: Dautremer Rebecca, Alexandre Day, Chabouté ......

  1. What inspires you to draw the way you draw?

    • Firstable, the way I draw. I like to draw with black-ink pen because I can't erase any line. I do not draw any outline, any sketch. Now the topics. I like to draw living things, anatomics part (hands and  old faces especially, and sometimes add few unusual things (muppetlike, out of scale...) I try to add some emotion, sensitivity but that's not so easy. I hope people perceive it.

  1. What is your favorite piece you’ve made and why?

    • Difficult one...  I'd say the eyes (see below). This drawing is quite simple, small, not that much beautiful but it represents my daughter's eyes. Each time I look at it, it reminds me of a special moment.

  1. Describe your artwork in three words:
